MOVEMENT + COACHING
Monica has over 15 years experience teaching and coaching experience, working with professional actors, dancers, singers and young people. She facilitates workshops in contemporary dance technique, movement for actors and singers, choreography for stage and film and her own choreographic explorations.
Workshops and Coaching for Dancers
Workshops are designed to build strength, performance and body awareness, through the use of weight, breath. Influenced by ballet, Cunningham, Release and floorwork, her movement style explores transitions and oppositions to create dynamic movement, challenging participants to center themselves so they are free to explore their extremeties.
Coaching sessions on refining technique and movement quality in a specific dance style (contemporary, ballet and partnering) to enhance performance. Dancers can also use these sessions to focus on rebalancing the body and conditioning as part of rehabilitation or injury prevention.
Movement Coaching for Actors and Singers
These sessions focus on developing character physicality and expression for performance on stage and on screen. Drawing from her own training in Laban's theories, dance and research in animal movement and microgestures, participants are guided through a series of tasks designed to increase body awareness, create a multifaceted character and enhance their performance in productions.
Private coaching sessions are designed around the participant's needs. This inlcudes building character physicality based on the context of a role, learning specific dance styles and choreography, and preparing for auditions.
